The Ministry of Digital Governance is a new entity in the Greek government bringing together all the Information Technology and Telecommunications structures related to the provision of digital services to citizens and businesses in the country. Τhe Ministry of Digital Governance is coordinating activities with all other ministries, government agencies, and bodies, to ensure interoperability at all levels e.g. devices, networks, data repositories, services, people, sectors, authorities, communities. Its strategic target is to develop the necessary framework in order to contribute to the establishment of the inclusive Digital Single Market at European level and enabling citizens and businesses in Greece to truly benefit from interlinked and multi-lingual e-services. The General Secretariat of Digital Governance and Simplification of Procedures has been mandated to:
• design and implement the government’s digital transformation policy,
• promote digitisation and the use of e-government practices throughout the Public Sector, and
• promote digital skills and provide related training opportunities to all target groups
The General Secretariat of Digital Governance and Simplification of Procedures is also responsible for undertaking all necessary initiatives for simplifying administrative procedures across the Public Sector and transform them into digital processes, avoiding the development of digital red-tape.
